Il giorno 19 Settembre del 1869 moriva giovanni cairoli, quei che col fratello enrico, capo a settanta eroi, avea tentato di arrecare soccorso a Roma insorgente; moriva delle gloriose ferite riportate a Villa Gloria in quel di memorando ch'enrico s'immolava, ostia cruenta, sul l'ara della patria.
Ed era il quarto figlio che adelaide perdeva: un grido di ambascia rispose da ogni contrada d'italia al suo grido trambasciato di madre, e della sua sventura gemette ogni cuore di donna.
