Riassunto

This book explores violence and abuse in contemporary China within different contexts related to age, gender and sexuality. It focuses primarily on violence and abuse against women, children and young people especially within the family and intimate relationships. Drawing on recent original research by academics both inside and outside China, it discusses psychological, physical and sexual abuse. It examines how concepts of masculinity and femininity relate to violence and abuse, highlights the problems of discovering how prevalent violence and abuse are in China, and assesses the effectiveness of education in combating violence and abuse.
