Se trataba nada menos que de admirar, más bien que de recibir al egregio Cristóbal Colón, quien un mes antes (el 15 de Marzo) había llegado, al desde entonces famosísimo puerto de Palos, de vuelta del viaje marítimo más grande que hasta entonces emprendieron los hombres; y aunque Palos y Sevilla y cuantas poblaciones encontrara en el trán sito, hasta Barcelona, le habían rendido los tributos que él y sus acompañantes merecie ron por tan inaudito acontecimiento; sin em bargo, Barcelona, por hallarse convertida en corte accidental de los monarcas, les hizo un recibimiento fastuosísimo.
