Excerpt from A Discourse Occasioned by the Death of Rev. Zalmon Tobey, A. M., September, 17th, 1858

The first and strongest impression of the christian cone vert is, that in this world he has no permanent home. Spev cious and inviting as life had appeared, and remote its close, it is divested of its delusive glare, and distant things are brought near. Time, the narrow brook which divides the earthly and the eternal, appears but 3 steps' breadth. Born of celestial birth, he lives not merely as a natural man livc eth for henceforthto him to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
