La méthode dont nous avons fait usage pour développer le poly nome, sert encore à trouver la somme des puissances des racines d'une équation algébrique quelconque: on obtient dans ce cas deux développe mens qui en dernière analyse sont identiques, et on les somme de la même manière que la série que l'on avait obtenue pour le polynome.
