Europe has witnessed unprecedented influx of refugees in recent years fueled by growing instability and conflicts in other parts of the world. This influx of refugees threatens social cohesion in Europe, primarily because Europe was not adequately prepared to receive overwhelming numbers as we've seen in recent year. Because of this,populism is on the rise (as in the case of Brexit) and European integration is seriously threatened. Similarly, the fundamental values of cooperation, tolerance, and care that are rooted into the European culture are undermined. The Power of Cooperation in Receiving and Integrating Refugees in Europe provides a new approach for receiving and integrating refugees into Europe and achieving social cohesion. The book capitalizes on bringing to light the potential of a co-operative approach in addressing human needs, and the extent to which it can address the social, economic, and cultural needs of refugees through maximizing stakeholders' participation. The co-operative approach, referred to in the book, is the "US" approach that builds on local knowledge and local participation to developing interventions that address people's needs.
