From reviews of the text:

"I love this book and have used the previous editions. It is one of the best books out there for students wanting to go into the field of working with substance abusers and/or family members. . . . I have looked at many different books for my class and this book continues to be above the rest in terms of readability . . . [and it's] beneficial to those looking towards certification.”

-Valerie Gebhardt, University of Illinois Springfield

"This book has everything that you could want and more. The writing is straightforward . . . . [and the] experience of the authors in the field of addiction is apparent. . . .
