Odette du Puigaudeau : une Bretonne au désert

Descendante d'armateurs et de marins, fille d'un
peintre de l'école de Pont-Aven, Odette du
Puigaudeau (1894-1991) fut d'abord dessinatrice
au Collège de France et styliste chez Jeanne
Lanvin. Puis elle participa à des campagnes de
pêche sur des thoniers bretons et devint journaliste,
jusqu'au grand départ de janvier 1934,
quand elle se lança avec son amie Marion
Sénones «pieds nus à travers la Mauritanie».
Ce voyage fut une révélation : Odette consacra
dès lors sa vie au Sahara occidental, vie d'aventures
au temps des derniers rezzous, puis vie
scientifique et littéraire tournée vers le peuple
maure.
