In Scar, Carrie Etter compellingly explores the effects of climate change on her home state of Illinois. The language shifts and evolves painfully as the land and its inhabitants find themselves wracked by climatic and political forces beyond their control.

Carrie Etter is the prizewinning author of five collections of poetry; editor of three works, including Infinite Difference: Other Poetries by UK Women Poets (Shearsman, 2010), a Times Literary Supplement Book of the Year; and author of numerous essays, short stories, and reviews. She recently finished her first novel and is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Bristol.
