Jeweils zwei Wissenschaftler, ein Deutscher und ein Japaner, informieren über ein Thema der Sozialforschung in ihrem Land bzw. über eine sozialwissenschaftliche Methode. Die so entstandene Sammlung gibt eine erste Gegenüberstellung der empirischen Sozialforschung in Deutschland und in Japan, wobei Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede herausgearbeitet werden.
Der enorme Umfang sozialwissenschaftlicher Forschung in Japan ist in Europa nicht annähernd bekannt. Dieses Buch vermittelt einen ersten deutlicheren Eindruck.
