The volume contains seven papers and two book reviews. The contributions deal with the single layered Quina Mousterian site of De Nadale Cave in Northern Italy [Jéquier et al.], stone tool analysis and context of the Late Middle Palaeolithic site of Pouch-Terrassenpfeiler, distr. Anhalt-Bitterfeld, Germany [Weiss], the quantification of Late Pleistocene core configurations [Pastoors et al.], sharing the world with mammoths, cave lions etc. and linking animal-human interactions to the Aurignacian system of faith [Hussain/Floss], the chronology of the European-Russian Gravettian on the basis of new radiocarbon dating results and their interpretation [Reynolds et al.], the Mesolithic burial site with nine individuals at Groß Fredenwalde, Brandenburg, Germany [Terberger et al.], and the Epipalaeolithic and Early Neolithic assemblages from Ifri Oudadane Cave, North-Eastern Morocco [Linstädter et al.]. The reviews refer to books on the Final Palaeolithic and Early Mesolithic site of Calowanie in the Ancient Vistula Channel, Poland [Groß] and to wooden artefacts from coastal settlements of the Final Mesolithic and Early Neolithic on the south-western coast of the Baltic Sea [Larsson].
