He subsequently held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa, and a Marie Curie Fellowship at University College Dublin, Ireland, where he remains as a Visiting Research Fellow in Classics. He now teaches Ancient History at the University of Southampton, UK.
