Info autore

Born to a working family in South Wales, 1950; moved to Norwich in 1968 to study Chemistry at UEA and graduated in 1971.In 1972, travelled overland to India with little money or experience, smoking cannabis, exploring and eventually becoming sick. That story is written in my book 'All about My Hat: The Hippy Trail 1972'.In 1974, I studied oriental masage and acupuncture which I practised for several years. In 1991, I was arrested and convicted on charges of conspiracy to import and conspiracy to supply cannabis and served four and ahalf years out of two concurrent ten-year sentencs.I started writing my book 'From Dot to Cleopatra" whilst in HMP Blantyre House. I became involved with the prison 'Amenities Committee" and helped with charity fundraising, two annual 'Stir Crazy' days for members of MENCAP and their carers, the annual pantomine and education. Whilst in Blantyre House, I obtained a Diploma in Computing with the Open University. It was whilst I served at Blantyre House that I worked with Prison Governor Jim Semple and fellow inmate William D Hutchinson to conduct a survey amongst inmates about their prison experience which resulted in the publication of 'Damage and Humanity in Custody'.After my release in 1995, I became involved with the UK Campaign to Legalise Cannabis and in 1999, co-founed the 'Legalise Cannabis Alliance (LCA)' as a political party; I stood as a candidate in the 2001 general election with 1.6% of the vote. I served in the LCA until 2011 as Nominating Officer, National Coordinator and Treasurer. In 1999, I produced the LCA Manifesto and Policy document 'Cannabis: Legalise and Utilise'.After leaving the LCA, I wrote my personal account of my experiences within the campaign and the people that I met. That is presented in my book 'Out of joint: 20 Years of Campaigning for Cannabis'.In 2014, I produced my book 'All About My Hat: The Hippy Trail 1972, about my experiences travelling to India back in 1972, as told "through Myhat".This was followed by my account of my person experinces after arrest, remand, trail and incarceration for cannabis, victimless crimes: 'Time for Canabis: The Prson Years'.As I write this biography, I am preparing for publication my next offering; 'Myhat in Egypt: Through the Eyes of a God', an adult mystery time-travelling adventure story, told again by 'Myhat'.
