Entre la Clape et la chaîne de Fontfroille s étend une vaste plaine de Coursan a Sigean, correspondant a ce que j 'appellerai le Syn clinal oligocène de narbonne-sigean. Basse et marécageuse de Coursan à l'étang de Bages, elle est ensuite accidentée de collines blanchâtres ou rutilantes, tendres, très découpées, formant de petites falaises' sur le bord des étangs de Bages. De Peyriac et de Sigean.
