In the present work I have not altered the construction of a single sentence; though some entire paragraphs, evidently written in haste, were not formed on the best or most exact models. The punctuation, on the whole, was so excellent, that I have seldom seen cause for any substitution. In the many thousand preper names of men, cities, and countries, the spelling of which was usually uncouth.
