The status of women all over the world, Nigeria inclusive, through the ages, has been a cause for grave concern in every culture and in every clime. The author, in this book, has made a penetrating analysis of the various laws and culture affecting the realization of women's rights in Nigeria and how to use the NGOs to address these challenges. Having looked at the underlying concepts of human rights the author turns his attention to definition of human rights, human rights in the Nigeria constitution, fundamental rights and generation of rights. Examination of women's rights from biblical perspective, sharia and women's rights together with main legal framework for the protection of women's rights in Nigeria were equally considered.Some laws that discriminate women's human rights in Nigeria, definition of gender and factors militating against the realization of women's in Nigeria were also given attention.John Okechukwu Ogouno, is a barrister and solicitor of the supreme court of Nigeria and a lecturer at faculty of law, Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State. He has also contributed to learned journals.
