Fixed Prosthodontics is the branch of Prosthodontics that deals with replacement of missing tooth or teeth and associated structures by means of prosthesis that can't be removed by the patient Biologically acceptable fixed Prosthodontic treatment demands that prepared teeth be protected and stabilized with provisional restorations that resemble the form and function of the definitive Prosthesis. They are essential in the maintenance of periodontal health and protection of pulp from thermal insult. This is especially useful with treatment involving esthetic need of the patient. Variety of materials and techniques are available for fabrication of temporary fixed prosthesis. It may be preformed or customized. It is the choice of the Prosthodontist to select an appropriate material and technique to fabricate the interim restoration based on the clinical presentation and patients need. Recent materials and advanced techniques are described here with illustrated pictures in a very simple, easy to understand and self explanatory manner. This book may be a useful guide for undergraduates, postgraduate students, laboratory assistants as well as clinicians
