The proposed book entitled, "Importance of Heterocycles in Medicinal Chemistry" gives an outline of the various heterocyclic derivatives and their applications in medicinal chemistry i.e. around 20 years of research and development efforts. It was observed that, about one half of over six million compounds recorded so far in chemical abstracts are heterocyclic. Heterocyclic chemistry is one of the most complex and intriguing branch of organic chemistry, and heterocyclic compounds constitute the largest and most varied family of Organic compounds. Many broader aspects of heterocyclic chemistry are recognized as disciplines of general significance that impinge on almost all aspects of modern organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and biochemistry. The book covers some basic information about these heterocycles and their importance in Medicinal Chemistry.

Dr. Amit B. Patel is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Chemistry, HVHP Institute of PG Studies and Research, Kadi, India. His research interest is mainly concerned with the development of new bio-active heterocyclic scaffolds. Miss Rinku Raval is currently pursuing her PG dissertation project under his guidance.
