Le Temps retrouvé ou La fin d'un monde

Le Temps retrouvé, publié en 1927, est le septième et
dernier volet du roman de Marcel Proust, À la recherche
du temps perdu. Les personnages, plus que jamais en
proie à leurs démons, évoluent dans le Paris de 1914-1916,
comparé à Pompéi ou à Herculanum, peu avant
l'éruption du Vésuve. On assiste, des années après la
guerre, à l'ultime raout mondain d'une société décrépite.
Le Narrateur y achève sa mue, dans les ultimes révélations,
quasi mystiques, de la «mémoire involontaire».
Le Temps retrouvé, roman de la fin d'un monde, est aussi
celui d'un art romanesque renouvelé, mis en place, dans le
temps, par l'écrivain du rire et de l'innommable.
