Tout au long d'À la recherche du temps perdu, les objets occupent une place importante d'un point de vue esthétique et dans les descriptions faites par Marcel Proust, de sorte que l'on peut y trouver et analyser les éléments d'une histoire du goût, de la mode et du décoratif au tournant des XIX^e et XX^e siècles.
