Access to sustainable energy services and an environmentally sustainable way of energy production and use are key priorities in achieving a secure energy future. However, our energy is produced and consumed in unsustainable ways. Nigeria, a country blessed with substantial hydrocarbon and renewable sources is over-reliant on its oil and gas sector for major energy needs and this has put the country at great risk. Thus with increased energy demand and import dependency, supply security of fossil fuels (especially oil and gas) in the country is becoming questionable. This book seeks to examine Nigeria s current energy trend as regards to energy production and consumption and offers ways to change our consumption patterns and shift to a more sustainable energy system.
