It was banned and repressed by Egyptian authorities since its foundation, as the Muslim Brotherhood s initial goal was to Islamize society through promotion of Islamic law, values, and morals. Recently following the 2011 Egyptian revolution, the movement was legalized and established the Freedom and Justice Party.
