Paul Samuelson, Jg. 1915 ist Neokeynesianer und Schüler von Joseph Schumpeter, Nobelpreisträger, Volkswirtschaftsexperte und Studentenfreund. Er wirkte seit den vierziger Jahren als Gutachter und Experte zahlreicher Institutionen und Organisationen. Er war Wirtschaftsberater der US Präsidenten D. Eisenhower und J.F. Kennedy. Samuelson war Mitbegründer und Lehrer am MIT in Cambridge. 1948 veröffentlichte er erstmalig sein mittlerweile weltweit bekanntes Lehrbuch der Volkswirtschaftslehre 'Economics'. Samuelson verfasste Beiträge zu beinahe allen Gebieten der Ökonomie. 1970 erhielt er für die Weiterentwicklung der statischen und dynamischen Theorie den Nobelpreis. Er steht bis heute dem US-Finanzministerium und der amerikanischen Zentralbank als Berater zur Seite, ist sechsfacher Vater und begeisterter Tennisspieler.
William D. Nordhaus ist einer der wichtigsten amerikanischen Ökonomen und Professor für Wirtschaftswissenschaften in Yale. Er saß im Wirtschaftsbeirat von Präsident Carter und bringt moderne Themen wie Ökologie, Energie, technischen Wandel sowie neueste Trends in den VWL-Klassiker ein.
