Angelus SILESIUS
Angelus Silesius appartient à la grande lignée de la mystique allemande. Il écrit une poésie d'ombres et de lumières ; il excelle dans les paradoxes. Tout se renverse en deux vers : pour bien servir Dieu, il faut aller au-delà de Dieu même ; il faut rejeter ceux qui nous séparent de Dieu, les anges, mais pour atteindre une « surangélité » dont Silesius dit qu'elle est l'essence de l'homme. L'objet du mystique est même un au-delà de la divinité, que l'homme n'atteint qu'en refusant de rester un homme.

Ce sont souvent des philosophes qui ont su comprendre Angelus Silesius. Leibniz reconnaît la beauté de son œuvre. Hegel et Schopenhauer saluent sa profondeur de vue. Wittgenstein le lisait. Mais au xx^e siècle, la renommée d'Angelus Silesius a tenu surtout dans une fleur, cette fameuse rose qui est « sans pourquoi », étudiée par Heidegger.
