Simon Beckett, geb. 1968, versuchte sich nach Abschluss eines Englischstudiums als Immobilienhändler, lehrte Spanisch und war Schlagzeuger. 1992 wurde er freier Journalist und schrieb für bedeutende britische Zeitungen wie 'Times', 'Daily Telegraph' oder 'Observer'.
