Der Begriff "Erlebnis" steht in der Praxis des Gottesdienstes häufig für dessen Attraktivität und Lebensnähe, während in der theologischen Tradition diese Kategorie oft in Verbindung mit "Unterhaltung" als Negativfolie erscheint, vor der sich die Wahrheit des Glaubens abheben soll. Auf dem Hintergrund phänomenologisch inspirierter Feldstudien zum Gottesdienst entfaltet Achim Knecht wesentliche kultursoziologische, rezeptionsästhetische und kulturanthropologische Theoriehorizonte zur Klärung des Erlebnisbegriffs. Damit werden zugleich auch Perspektiven für die praktische Gestaltung des Gottesdienstes deutlich. Mit dem "Erlebnis Gottesdienst" als unterhaltsame Motivierung zum Glauben bringt der Autor die theologische Intention des Gottesdienstes in reformatorischer Tradition im gegenwärtigen kulturellen Kontext neu zur Geltung.
[Experiencing Divine Service: On the Rehabilitation of "Erlebnis" (Adventure/Experience) as a Category for Divine Service in Theory and Practice]
Proximity to real life - in traditional theology this category often appears together with "entertainment" as a negative foil set off against the true faith. Based on phenomenologically inspired field studies on divine service, Achim Knecht maps out a number of significant contexts towards a definition of "Erlebnis", approaching the term from viewpoints such as cultural sociology, the aesthetics of reception and cultural anthropology. This also includes perspectives for the practical structuring of the service. Employing "Erlebnis Gottesdienst" as an entertaining way to motivate our faith, the author derives from the current cultural context a new significance and theological intention for divine service in the reformed tradition.

Achim Knecht, Dr. theol., Jahrgang 1957, Pfarrer der Evangelischen Kirche und Hessen und Nassau, ist seit 2010 Dekan des Evangelischen Dekanates Frankfurt am Main-Höchst. Er wurde mit der vorliegenden Arbeit an der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main im Jahr 2008 promoviert.
