This book draws on and contributes to critical work in the fields of global education, futures education and education for sustainability. It brings together leading-edge issues pertinent to these fields and to education more widely. This book is an exploration of the role that education should play in times of accelerated and hazardous change. It focuses on three of the most pressing issues facing society today: climate change, peak oil and the limits to growth. Taken together these problems are likely to result in a future for which society is currently ill-prepared. The book highlights the crucial role that education can play in helping prepare students for the transition to a zero carbon society.
