Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alfred Wagenhofer ist seit 1991 Lehrstuhlinhaber und Vorstand des Instituts für Unternehmensführung an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. Nach dem Studium und der Promotion an der Universität Wien habilitierte er sich 1990 an der Technischen Universität Wien. Im Jahr 1989 war er Gastprofessor an der University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Kanada, 1990/91 Gastprofessor (Lehrstuhlvertretung) am Institut für Unternehmensführung an der Universität Graz, 1991 Lehrbeauftragter an der Universität Frankfurt a. M., und 1996 bis 1997 Gastprofessor an der Universität Wien. Seit 1998 ist er auch Professor am European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM), Brüssel. 1997/98 war er Präsident der European Accounting Association (EAA), und seit 1999 ist er Mitglied des Vorstandes der Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V.
