I don't know how he does it [*I do, actually: great talent and damned hard work*] but Gyles Brandreth's Oscar Wilde Murder Mysteries get better and better . . . positively dazzling. Oscar is on sunny form, but the clouds are gathering. Like its central character, The Nest of Vipers is both witty and profound.
