Alex, a loveable, unassuming dog trainer is dating Katherine, a gorgeous personal shopper from a wealthy family. Katherine adores Alex’s honesty and capacity to listen. Alex is awed by Katherine’s intelligence and beauty. Alex gathers the courage to pop the question, but Katherine upends his world by giving him a list of improvements he must make to bring their relationship to the “next level” and win the approval of her protective father. Dumbfounded, Alex rejects the list. He seeks advice from best friend, Lily, her husband Michael, and loyal buddy Dave. Before Alex can plan his next move, his hand is forced by the arrival of a handsome competitor. Impulsively, Alex decides to do the list. As he tackles each item, Alex finds support from an unlikely mentor and from Lily’s 6 yr. old son, Nicky, with whom Alex feels a special bond. In the end, Alex has to decide if he’s being true to himself, as he pursues Katherine’s ideal.
