Description

Il centurione Marciano viene catturato dai barbari, ma riesce a liberarsi e a raggiungere Bisanzio, capitale dell'Impero d'Oriente. Qui conosce e si innamora di Pulcheria, sorella dell'imperatore Teodosio che, per paura, preferisce versare dei tributi agli Unni di Attila anziché affrontarli in battaglia. Il flagello di Dio indirizza allora le sue orde verso l'Italia dove però viene fermato da papa Leone. Marciano intanto viene nominato generale e, alla testa delle legioni romane, infligge agli Unni la sconfitta definitiva. Una congiura di palazzo lo porta infine sul trono.
