Description

Il moro Otello, dopo aver sposato in segreto Desdemona viene inviato a Cipro per combattere i turchi. Sono con lui la moglie, Cassio e Jago. Quest’ultimo, che odia Otello ed invidia Cassio, incita a chiedere a Desdemona di intercedere presso il marito in suo favore. Jago poi travisa con Otello l’interessamento di Desdemona portando Otello ad un tale punto di gelosia da indurlo ad uccidere Desdemona. Le menzogne di Jago vengono smascherate. Jago stesso è ferito da Otello e viene portato alla tortura dopo che Otello, si dà la morte. Cassio prende il suo posto nel governo di Cipro.
