Siamo ai giorni nostri in un piccolo villaggio da qualche parte tra l`Africa settentrionale e il Medio Oriente. Le donne vanno a prendere l`acqua alla sorgente in cima alla montagna, sotto un sole cocente. Lo fanno dalla notte dei tempi. Leila, giovane sposa, propone alle donne di fare lo sciopero dell`amore: niente più effusioni, niente più sesso fino a quando non saranno gli uomini a portare l`acqua al villaggio.
