Description

Simon Baker, Alfred Molina, Hope Davis, and Shane West face off against a Jack the Rippe copycat in this horrifying thriller, The Lodger follows a seasoned detective on the trail of a ruthless killer intent on slaughtering prostitutes along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip. It appears that the murderer's grisly methods are identical to that of London's infamous 19th century psychopath Jack the Ripper - a relentless serial killer who was never caught by police. To make matters worse, the detective soon notices the parallels between the crimes committed by the West Hollywood stalker and those of a serial murderer incarcerated years ago. Could the wrong man by behind bars?

Wow !
J’ai vu deux très bons films aujourd’hui.
Dire que je peux passer parfois deux semaines à regarder deux films par jour et qu’il y en a rarement plus de deux par semaines qui sont vraiment bons !
C’est mon jour de chance.
Bref !
Une enquête policière palpitante.
Il y a deux personnages principaux que l’on suit dans ce film et qui finissent par se rejoindre.
On soupçonne plein de truc, on suspecte tout le monde…
La fin est pas incroyable pour les inconditionnels du genre. Il est plutôt surprenant pour des gens qui ne regardent pas des policier avec tueurs en série tous les jours.
J’ai trouvé tous les acteurs excellent. Mention spéciale à Alfred Molina !
Quand j’ai vu que Rachel Leigh Cook était de la partie, je m’en suis réjouis, car j’adore cette actrice.
Mais ici, on ne la voit pas plus de 10 minutes. Si on regarde le film que pour elle, c’est râpé !

Pendant une heure, je me suis pas ennuyé.
Puis ça commence à s’essouffler, car ça part vraiment dans trop de sens.
Mis ça se rattrape à nouveau au bout de quelques minutes. Suivi d’un ou deux rebondissements.
Et même ce qui parait incohérent finit par le devenir pour finir.
Quoi qu’il en soit, j’ai beaucoup aimé. Et même plus !

Leider kommt der film erst ab ca.50min richtig in fahrt! Die darsteller spielen insgesamt solid und an der inszenierung ist auch nichts auszusetzen! Leider dümpelt The Lodger vor sich hin und ist nichts anders als ein durchschnittsthriller ohne wirklich grosse höhepunkte!

Viel verraten kann man hier nicht, da die Geschichte den Täter ziemlich früh offenbart. Insofern herrscht kein Grusel/ Horror oder der wirkliche Thriller-Effekt. Fazit: Ein bisschen dünn ist dieses Werk geraten. Die angedeuteten Tatelemente sind nicht schlecht. Ebenso die düsteren Farben und manchmal die Kameraführung. H. Davis als Schizo, finde ich, überragt alle mit ihrer Darstellung. Insgesamt nichts besonderes.
