Description

La vita della "Pulzella di Orléans". Giovanna nata nel 1412 a Domremy, in Francia, sente delle voci celesti, che la spronano a liberare la Francia. Carlo VII la mette a capo dell`esercito francese schierato per la battaglia d`Orléans. Il Re, geloso della popolarità di Giovanna, la lascia alla mercé dell`Inquisitore Cauchon. Giovanna viene condannata come strega al rogo. Venticinque anni dopo, la Chiesa dichiara nullo il processo, il popolo francese la proclama martire.

Wer sich für die authentische Überlieferung der Johanna-Geschichte interessiert, ist mit diesem Film immer noch gut bedient. Obwohl schon etwas angestaubt, beaubert Ingrid Bergman mit ihrer glaubwürdigen und anrührenden Darstellung. Das Geld ist hier jedenfalls besser investiert als etwa in Luc Bessons Machwerk.
