Many recent books have attempted to address the "crisis" in the mainline church. Anthony Robinson here makes a significant -- and in many ways unique -- contribution to this discussion by bringing his personal insights as a pastor to bear on the issue of renewing congregational life.
Writing from twenty-five years of experience in four congregations of differing size, location, and ethnic makeup, Robinson prescribes concrete changes in the practice of ministry that have been tried, tested, and lived out to great success. At the heart of his framework for church renewal is what he calls "cultural change." According to Robinson, technical or programmatic change is not sufficient to address the needs of the day. He argues for changing the very culture of mainline congregations, which involves recognizing and fostering their particular gifts and genius rather than trying to remake them into something they are not. His fruitful strategies for renewal touch every aspect of congregational life, from personal spiritual formation to church leadership.

About Anthony RobinsonAbout Anthony Robinson

In 2003 I started playng for the state of NSW in the Australian Senior Tennis Teams championships. This event required one to be fit enough to play seven straight days of doubles tennis.

At this time, I marvelled at the better tennis players who continued to play into the second week for the Individual Singles and Doubles titles.

When I retired at 72 yrs of age I began to play more tennis - up to five times a week - but strangely I also began to put on weight, and my tennis was not improving quickly enough.

Thus, two books were born. The first was "Eat Well Live Strong", published only as an eBook. This well-researched book has not only reduced my weight, it has got me fit enough to play singles and doubles in the ITF tennis tournaments. My best results so far are No 7 in Australia for both singles and doubles for my age group.

Book 2, "Advanced Senior Tennis" has been a work in progress and continues to evolve as my strokes improve and I am influenced by tennis coaches such as Thomas Menzinger, Dan E Smith and

Mehrban Iranshad.
