Sailing Around the World - A Family Retraces Joshua Slocum's Voyage

Bernardin, a French racing sailor, buys a replica of the famous SPRAY and takes his family on a circumnavigation retracing Slocum's famous voyage. They start in 1995 and spend the next three years travelling around the world. First, on a trial run, they travel from Newport to Guy's native Brittany, then across the Atlantic. Once familiar with the SPRAY and their life on board, they set out in the wake of Slocum, traversing endlessly varied waters, and even narrowly escaping Hurricane Chantal. This is the story of a happy family at sea. Bernardin brings a fresh voice to this travelogue as he introduces his young child to life on a boat, and with him discovers the whole world.
