Bonnie Bowman Thurston is William F. Orr Professor of New Testament at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her earlier books are: The Widows: A Women's Ministry in the Early Church (Fortress Press, 1989); Spiritual Life in the Early Church: The Witness of Acts and Ephesians (Fortress Press, 1993); and Women in the New Testament (1998).
