Larissa Volokhonsky was born in Leningrad.  She has translated the work of the prominent Orthodox theologians Alexander Schmemann and John Meyendorff.    Pevear and Volokhonsky were awarded the PEN Book-of-the-Month Club Translation Prize for their version of The Brothers Karamazov.
