Description

Following the December 2007 Presidential elections, Kenya was rocked with violence and inter-tribal skirmishes. When the fracas simmered and school resumed by February 2008, everyone thought that such wanton destruction and turmoil was behind them. They energetically sought to concentrate on picking up the pieces, rebuilding infrastructure, restoring commerce, and even militantly catching up on the school syllabi. However, forgotten to us all were the children, who endured, suffered, witnessed and had not forgotten... In July and August of 2008, fires lit the sky again, this time the culprits were not the adults, but the children. The book looks at Violence as it applies to Students, particularly those in Kenyan Secondary School. With a focus on the 2008 events, it seeks to identify the parties involved in the occurrence of violent incidences; it reviews the effects and impacts. The book identifies what every member of the society can do to chart a way forward that will deter the recurrence of such tragic events.
