About the author

Charles Baudelaire (1821-67) hat überwiegend in Paris gelebt, wo er das väterliche Erbe als Großstadtdandy durchbrachte. Er war auch tätig als Kunstkritiker, übersetzte Poe und entdeckte die Musik Richard Wagners für Frankreich.

Friedhelm Kemp, geb. 1914, Essayist und Übersetzer vor allem aus dem Französischen (u.a. Werke von Maurice Sceve, Charles Baudelaire, Simone Weil, Saint-John Perse, Marcel Jouhandeau, Yves Bonnefoy, Philippe Jaccottet); er erhielt 1998 den Joseph Breitbach-Preis. Friedhelm Kemp lebt in München.
