About the author

Jean McFadden combined a career as lecturer at the University of Strathclyde's Law School with years of service as a councillor in Glasgow from 1971. She was awarded the CBE in 1992. Leader of the Council, 1980-1986 and 1992-1994. Mark Lazarowicz was elected as Member of Parliament for Edinburgh North and Leith in June 2001 and reelected in May 2005. He sits in the House of Commons as a "Labour and Co-operative MP" and is a member of the Labour & Co-operative Parliamentary Group. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Scottish Constitutional Convention. Prior to being elected as an MP, Mark worked as an Advocate at the Scottish Bar.
