Bill Park''s new book investigates the accuracy and
usefulness of Australia s principal online memorial
to its mid-20th Century soldiers, the World War 2
Nominal Roll . He makes
some very interesting discoveries and pertinent
recommendations in this 65th anniversary year of the
end of World War II. His book is useful for students
of journalism, media, history, records management and
internet studies. It is dedicated to those tens of
thousands of Australian soldiers of World War II
whose service to their country has not been
accurately recorded on the World War 2 Nominal Roll.
It also serves to remind us of our promise that We
shall remember them : Lest we forget.
About the author
Bill Park, C.B.E., A.M., was born in Brisbane in 1920, served asan Australian soldier in World War II in the New Guinea campaign,achieved a Commerce degree in 1947 and an MPhil degree in 2009.He is a patron of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust inAustralia, and lives in Brisbane.
