The works of the most important artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries now grace the walls of Munich s newest museum, which boasts rooms specifically designed to display its vast holdings: enormous canvases by Cy Twombly and Andy Warhol; installations by Damien Hirst and Mike Kelley; as well as works by Joseph Beuys, Georg Baselitz, Gerhard Richter, Bruce Nauman, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Robert Gober. In this first catalogue on the Museum Brandhorst, 300 images highlight the incredible depth and range of one of Europe s most distinct and important collections of modern and contemporary art. Essays on the museum and its future, as well as the history of the collection and its owners, accompany the reproductions.
