Sven D. Haakanson Jr. is director of the Alutiiq Museum and was a 2007 MacArthur Fellow. Amy F. Steffian is deputy director of the Alutiiq Musuem.

Summary

Masks are an ancient tradition of the Alutiiq people on the southern coast of Alaska. This title presents full-color images of thirty-three of these masks, which have been preserved for more than a century as part of the Pinart Collection in a small French museum.
