Bill Buford war acht Jahre lang Literatur-Redakteur beim New Yorker, wo er zum ersten Mal auf Walton Ford aufmerksam wurde, als dieser einige seiner Geschichten illustrierte. Heute arbeitet er als fester Journalist beim New Yorker. Er lebt mit seiner Frau Jessica Green und ihren gemeinsamen Söhnen in New York.
