A retired police officer and part-time nature tour leader, Lasley was secretary of the Texas Bird Records Committee of the Texas Ornithological Society for many years and also wrote the Texas regional section in what is now the American Birding Association journal North American Birds. His photographs have been published in over one hundred magazines, journals, and books.
