Informationen zum Autor Suzanne Phillips started writing seriously when she was still a teenager. It was a good way to exorcise all the things that were happening in her life then. She has been teaching English in a secondary school for over fifteen years and working with teens has greatly influenced her writing. (One of her jobs included working in a locked psychiatric hospital for teens.) She has an MFA in fiction writing and is an active member of her local writers' community in Santee, California, where she lives with her two children. Vorwort What drives a child kill? Another hard-hitting novel from the author of Miss America Zusammenfassung For Cameron Grady, school is a war zone. Walking through the doors is like crossing into enemy camp and most days he comes under attack. Rich Patterson and the other jocks stalk the halls hunting for victims and Cameron is one of their favourites. Cameron’s only release is running – and fire – burning matches, burning his skin, and eventually, burning the woods behind his house. The bullying finally culminates in a vicious assault in the locker room. Seemingly powerless against the bullies, Cameron finally lashes out at the only target he can, with fatal consequences. BURN is the unsentimental and gripping story of how Cameron, first the victim of a violent parent, then a victim of violent peers, comes to commit the violent murder of another, innocent child.
