Integrated System Modelling Using the Form-Oriented Analysis - Focusing SOA and Model-Driven Techniques on Simple System Usage

English · Paperback / Softback

Description

Constantly raising system complexity demands for well-suited development methods in order to enhance specification, integration and maintainability of large Enterprise Information Systems. Techniques like Model-Driven Development (MDD) and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) currently have a great impact on the software industry, since they promise immense cost savings through efficient modelling and design guidelines. In this book, a concrete industrial instantiation of MDD is extended by means of a Presentation Layer architecture under considerations of the Form-Oriented Analysis - an approach focusing on specification of a simple system usage paradigm. Both, the resulting user interface, as well as the modelling techniques are fully characterised by this interaction methodology and integrated into the MDD-context. Results provide an integrated information system model with primary focus on Ultra- Thin Client architectures and benefits from service-orientation. The powerful abstraction mechanisms of the Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) allow for a wide field of application domains, while the form-based approach makes it amenable for GUI-specification and -prototyping.
