About the author
Walter Krenkel ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls Keramische Materialien an der Universität Bayreuth und Leiter der Gruppe Keramische Verbundwerkstoffe bei der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. Nach seiner Promotion arbeitete er im beim Deutschen Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt in Stuttgart. Walter Krenkel ist Fellow der Amerikanischen Keramischen Gesellschaft und Mitglied zahlreicher Beratergremien internationaler Konferenzen, Workshops und Technologietransferforen. Seine Forschungstätigkeit konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung und Verbesserung keramischer Verbundwerkstoffe und anderer neuartiger Keramiken.
